When Brett Goldstein, Jason Segel, and Bill Lawrence were asked how they got Harrison Ford on the show, Segel said that Goldstein originally wanted a “Harrison Ford type” and was going to audition people who looked like Ford. Segel told Goldstein that they should at least bring it to Ford, thinking he would immediately turn it down, but at least other people would know that Harrison Ford had been approached for the project, which got other big-name actors interested.
And the rest of the show is great too
Eventually, Goldstein talked to Ford and sold him the role. Goldstein still doesn’t know what he did to convince him, but he was elated nonetheless. Featured on WatchMojo: The 10 Best TV Shows of 2023 (So Far) (2023). Jason Segel is a great choice for this script.
And Jessica is perfect
He has the weird, idiotically confident energy that the role requires. His humor works great with the dialogue. It’s a new form of sitcom drama. No one-liners, just engaging personalities with a bit of quirkiness and family circumstances that are a bit off-kilter but still relatable.
It’s just impossible
Of course, Jimmy’s behavior as a therapist is completely absurd. You’d lose your license immediately. But in drama, we allow metaphorical situations. And in this script, we feel a strong sense of purpose for the solutions.
It’s easy and fun for me
We have to give the writers credit and try to get the point across. It must have been difficult for other critics.
